![]() ![]() After having it for a few days I noticed that when it is started in the morning the red temp sensor flashes after the motor has run for about five seconds. It has about 81K miles and is in very good shape. Note: Never ever use a quick oil change place. I just purchased an 07 Beetle convertible with a 2.5 litre, automatic drive train. I suggest that most people would be better off finding a good independent (Not working for a chain) mechanic. During the warranty period be sure to have all required (as listed in the owner's manual) maintenance done and to document all maintenance work. There is no need to bring your car to the dealer for any service other than service that is going to be paid for by a recall or original warrantee. They also tend to look at repairs a little different than the independent.Ī dealer may well recommend work that strictly may not be needed, but could be connected to the problem or maybe replace a part when a little repair would fix it ALMOST as good a new. They will almost always charge more per hour and often more for parts and supplies. Do not drive on Stop the vehicle as soon as possible and when safe to do so. ![]() Second: Dealers are no better (or worse) than independent mechanics for almost anything you might need done on your car. Engine coolant temperature too high or engine coolant level too low. I would not drive that car unless I could verify that it is indeed not overheating. ![]() Of course it is always possible that the computer is reacting to a bad sensor not high heat or low oil etc. First and foremost a flashing light means stop now or risk serious and expensive damage. ![]()
